Our History

Lane Street Studios opened for business in November 2022.

In 2019 the Lane Street Studios team supported by the investment of the Evans Family in Upper Hutt, started working on a range of feasibility studies to try and predict and measure the demand for international screen production in New Zealand. The results were unanimously in favour of the substantial infrastructure investment required and a 3 year journey of planning and building was underway.

Construction began in earnest in June 2020, in which the Tōtara Production Building (named after the Evans Family Trust) was completely refurbished followed by the delivery of the our soundstages, Kauri Stage and Miro Stage.
